hello, fellow drunks. its summer, and that means summer beers. now most will come up with sam adams summer ale, which bites pretty much. one of my faves is black dog summer white, by spanish peaks brewery, but i cant find a pic of that. today i bring to you, a somewhat darker brew, for those of us with hair on our chests,those of us with testicular fortitude…..when we want a manly man's summer beverage.  bring to you, straight from germany, land of frisky frauleins, the fine beer that is Hofbrau Munchen Dunkel.  get after it, son !!!

Hey everyone…  

I'm sure you've noticed the massive slow-down in content over the last week or two.  Let me just take a minute to re-assure you that this isn't us leaving or abandoning the site.  Work is underway at www.thedudeslife.com as we transform what you've come to know and love into something bigger and better.  The new site will not just allow for more flexibility, but will also allow us to expand what we do day in and day out.    With that said, I just ask that you hang in there with us, be a little patient, and before you know it, we'll be back, bigger, better, and badder than ever.  Thanks for your continued support!

Good morning fellow TDL-ers.  If you regularly check the blog, you'll notice that things have slowed down a little bit of late.  This is for a few reasons, none of which have anything to do with the blog slowing down.  It was simply a lull.  However, over the course of the next couple of weeks, things probably will be a little…different.  You may not even notice.  You might.  Here's the deal.  I'm sick of hosting the blog on this address.  Especially when I own thedudeslife.com.   So, over the next couple of weeks, I'm transferring EVERYTHING over to that address.  For those of you who have links to us, or simply bookmarked the site, please take a moment to fix our address. Hopefully in the not-to-distant future, http://www.thedudeslife.com won't simply be a forwarded address, but our permanent home. 

This is actually a step in a positive direction for us for a couple of reasons.  1. I cannot tell you how happy I will be to have my name actually NOT directly associated with the blog.  2. With our new hosting plan, we will be able to expand what we do, and actually get started on working on some sister-projects (well, this is a dude's blog, so we'll call them brother-projects) that will go hand-in-hand with stuff we do here.  3. Hopefully in the coming months, we'll be making a change to the look and feel of the blog in general.  As much as I've become comfortable with the way things look around here, it's been three years and we could use a bit of a…uhm…freshening.   (Not to mention that wordpress is now on version no. 4,259 and our theme is an adaptation of one that was built for the stone-age version of wordpress.

hello, fellow imbibers of the world's best beverage. apparently, the dude and eddie have assumed i'm some sort of beer expert. i am not. i shall not be telling you exactly what notes and flavors are in the beers that i shall be listing here. i will not be characterizing and swishing them around my palate in an attempt to make myself sound like some beer flavor detective. what i will be doing is telling you what i have had, and what i liked because some of the "top rated" beers are these obscure microbrewed things that taste like skunk piss thats been out in the sun for hours. sometimes flavor will be mentioned, and i always say hit up ratebeer.com to get more info. 

the inaugural entry is a Affligem, a Belgian blonde Abbey Ale, coming in at a robust 6.8 % alc/vol. it is typical of its category, brewed with some fruits and spices, as are most belgians i've had and i found it to be a nice smooth drink.

Hello Readers,

If any of you have been following the comments section of our blog the past week or so, you will have noticed that today is the day a little part of The Blog dies, or at least gets a little tainted. Yup, today is the opening of the female lovefest that is the movie "Sex and the City." Today I am sure that women all over are rejoicing this day as they once again get to see there beloved heroines on the big screen (yapping it up about womanly issues, shoes and when the hell they will finally sucker a man into marriage). Women everywhere are breaking out the wine and their Gucci shoes to party in style. From a man's point of view, this means ducking and dodging the firestorm and hoping to survive that haunting question from our women of "Will you go with me to see the movie?" Some men will get lucky and not have to deal with this question (I love you for this LE!), but some are not so lucky. Some men will be able to enjoy a night alone or enjoy a night out with the boys while others… well… you know. Some will take that dive into the abyss.

hello, loyal tdl readers. i, like many others, spend too much time at my local multiplex and watcin dvds. seriously. its bad. the people at the theatre in nola used to ask me what was new that week cause they'd see me every so often.  every once in a while here, i'll be bringing to you my take on a movie. they mey be out in theatres, or in my dvd library. they may not be totally current, they may be stuff evryone has  seen or they may be something you thought about nabbin at blockbuster or throwing on your netflix list.
